Waiting on an Angel to Come
( The poem titled Waiting on an Angel to Come is written by Sydni Cole )
You’re taking shots, when’s it over
Taking shots, it’s taking over once again
And you find a grand paradise in the sanctions of your mind but it’s nothing near the truth
Taking jabs, need a rehab
Finding refuge in the bottom of a glass
And your stoney heart drowns deep in the sorrows that you keep coated in a worn out booth.
Free in the times you numb the pain
You’re only free as a bird wrapped in chains
Taking more when you know you can’t again
Thinking you’ve got nothing to gain
Where you gonna run to tonight
When they turn on the lights and kick you out half past two
Where’s your saving grace
A light that follows and takes away the darkness when you circum
Your just waiting on an Angel to come
Treading through the darkest water
You don’t know what’ll come up and drag you in
To the deepest caverns of your mind so you choose to deny the thoughts of ultimate truth
Looking back at all the reasons
Trapping you in your doubt so you stay
In a solitude of time where the devil owns your mind, defeated by his tongue and tooth
Breaking, he wants to draw you in
When you feel like you’re crawling in your skin
Forsaken places you’ve been
Treason to your soul is a sin
Where you gonna run to tonight
When they turn on the lights and kick you out half past two
Where’s your saving grace
A light that follows and takes away the darkness when you circum
Your just waiting on an Angel to come
